I have done hundreds of bicycle fittings on all types of cyclists. One thing that I have noticed is that about 20% of people can not be fitted properly on a stock, off the shelf, bicycle. This is because production bikes are made to fit people of average proportions. But, many people do not have "average proportions", we are all individuals! A good fit results when the marriage between a bicycle, which is somewhat adjustable, and a human, who is somewhat adaptable, results in a union that is powerful and efficient as well as comfortable and stable.
When a bike is custom made for it's intended rider the resulting fit is as near perfect as it can get, which yields a bicycle that is a pure joy to ride. When I build a custom bike I start with measurements of your torso, limbs, feet, shoulders, etc... I then plug all the dimensions into a program called Fit Kit to generate a drawing. I also compare this to the bike you are currently riding, and ask you a lot of questions about what problems you might be having with it. All this information is then sent to the engineer at one of the following custom bike builders, and they design a frame just for you. When I'm satisfied that the design will fulfill all of your requirements, I sign off on it and then they begin to produce your special bike. For you , the hardest part is picking out the right color and styling from all the unique possibilities!
If you schedule a fitting but are not quite ready to purchase your new bike, I will subtract the cost of the fitting from the price of your bike purchased withen 60 days!
Each of the builders that I work with were selected because they fulfill a particular niche withen the broad bicycle market. I also believe that these companies are the best in the world at what they do! All of the Companies that I work with have production in North America.
